ENGLISH PRONUNCIATION : AN INFALLIBLE METHOD: NO.1

AN INFALLIBLE WAY OF LEARNING SPONTANEOUS & ENCHANTING
ENGLISH PRONUNCIATION:

     FOR YOUR "DAILY" LOUD RECITATION.

NOBODY EVER LEARNT SANSKRIT WITHOUT LOUD RECITATION.
SIMILARLY, IN ENGLISH TOO , THERE IS NO OTHER METHOD OF
MASTERING SPOKEN ENGLISH  EXCEPT THE METHOD OF LOUD RECITATION OF
WORDS HAVING THE KEY OF THEIR PRONUNCIATION.
A thorough understanding of this key that is given below is absolutely
imperative for every reader before starting regular loud recitation.

The system is:
1.   a as in  gate     ay
          as   father     ah
          as   hat         a
2.   e as  in  feet     ee
         as    get        e
3.   i  as in  fight     y*
        as in fit i
4.   o as in note     oh
         as   rot          o
5.   u as in union    yoo
          as  tune       ew
            as  cut        u
In these words:
1,  ‘s’ is  always soft:
2. ‘z’ always hard:
3.  ‘k’ = hard ‘c’;
4.  ‘th’ as in ‘things’ is described as unvoiced,
5. and in ‘the’  this word is  voiced.
N.B.: y* represent the long “i” . For example: “iodine” is represented as
“eye-oh-din” “idyll” as “eye-dil” “fragile” as “fraj-yl” “eye” has been used to
represent an initial long “i” (“idyll” as “eye-dil”). “-ile” has been use for such
endings as –ite, -ize, and –ire. However, “-yn” has been used “-ine” in order
to distinguish this ending from “-een, and “-in”.

WORDS STARTING WITH THE ALPHABET “A”
THE SYLLABLE TO BE EMPHASIZED IS IN BOLD LETTERS.
1. abdomen: ab-doh-men
